The men’s biathlon field saw a lot of new faces at the top. These four men left no one questioning if they were ready to take the biathlon world. Which one is your newcomer of the season?

Vitalii Mandzyn (UKR) showed that he is ready to fight for the top spots already during the first weekend as he became fourth in the short individual in Kontiolahti. He also took his first World Cup podium with the Ukrainian men’s team in Nove Mesto Na Morave and celebrated this with dyed his hair pink! Martin Uldal (NOR) won his first World Cup just before Christmas as he won the sprint in Annecy Le Grand Bornand. The fast shooter was also seen in five World Cup flower ceremonies.

Danilo Riethmueller (GER) got to celebrate his own solo podium in the mass start in Annecy. The true celebration came in the Lenzerheide World Championships as he was part of the German men’s team who won bronze in the relay. Isak Frey (NOR) dominated in the IBU Cup so much he was moved to the World Cup and not for nothing. He reached his first World Cup podium in his debut weekend in Pokljuka with the mixed relay. The weekend in Holmenkollen was also super for him as he made his way to two flower ceremonies.
