World Team Challenge 2024: Preview + Where To Watch

The Biathlon World Team Challenge (WTC) is set to captivate fans once again on December 28, 2024, at the VELTINS-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, starting at 18:10 with the mass start, followed by a pursuit – Julia Simon and Fabien Claude (FRA) are the defending champions.

Celebrating its 21st edition, the event brings together top biathletes in a stadium setting with mixed-gender teams, each comprising one male and one female athlete. The competition consists of two main events: a Mass Start and a Pursuit, each lasting approximately 35 minutes. The 1.3-kilometer course includes climbs and descents, providing a great experience for both athletes and spectators.

Participating Teams

As of now, the confirmed teams for the 2024 event represent the following countries:

  • Slovenia (SLO) – Klemencic/Fak

  • Belgium (BEL) – Lie/Claude

  • Czech Republic (CZE) – Jislova/Krcmar

  • France (FRA) – Simon/Claude

  • Germany (GER) – Preuss/Nawrath and Weidel/Strelow

  • Latvia (LAT) – Bendika/Rastorgujevs

  • Norway (NOR) – Knotten/Laegreid

  • Sweden (SWE) – Magnusson/Nelin

  • Ukraine (UKR) – Dzhima/Pidruchnyi

In Germany, the competitions will be broadcast on ZDF, with in-form Preuss hoping to keep the trophy in Germany after back-to-back wins from France.

In Austria, ORF is broadcasting the event while Eurosport and Discovery will broadcaster the competitions across Europe.
