Anna Andexer from Austria delivered a perfect race in the sprint over 7.5 kilometres. With just one miss in the standing shooting and dominating form on the track, she beat off the competition. This is Anna Andexer's second medal at these championships after her bronze medal in the mixed relay. ‘I'm speechless about this success,’ she said after the race.
The Swedish team was also finally able to celebrate a medal. Sara Andersson also missed a penalty at the second shooting, finished nine seconds behind and secured the silver medal. She was already successful in the sprint a year ago at the IBU Junior World Championships in Otepaa. Amandine Mengin from France showed her good shape again in this race and won another medal, this time bronze, 31 seconds behind the winner.
It was one of the few races in which the Norwegian Haavard Tosterud has cleared all the targets in his career to date. This was the basis for his sprint victory and thus for the world championship title. Despite the tough conditions, he was faster on the track than Jakub Borgula from Slovakia and Petr Hak from the Czech Republic, who also made no mistakes and secured a medal. For Petr Hak, it was his best career result and his first medal at the World Championships.
Matija Legovic was back at the ceremony after his sixth place in the individual. The Croatian finished the sprint in fifth place. He also secured the total score in the sprint of the IBU Junior Cup for the 2024/2025 season. Fabiana Carpella from Italy took home the small crystal globe in the women's event.
