Chauveau and Dale-Skjevdal win Mass Start 60 in Ridnaun

Johannes Dale-Skjevdal of Norway and Sophie Chauveau of France claimed victories in the Mass Start 60 at the IBU Cup in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna. In closely contested races, less than 23 seconds separated the top six in the men’s race and less than 37 seconds in the women’s race.

Chauveau sprints to victory

Riding on the fastest skiing time, Chauveau, with 18/20, won with 33:47.1 for her first IBU Cup win of the season. Camille Bened, also of France, with one miss, finished 8.6 seconds behind. Rebeca Passler of Italy equalled Bened’s shooting score of 19/20 and rounded the podium with 18.6 seconds deficit to Chauveau.

THE WINNER’S WORDS - SOPHIE CHAUVEAU

This win means a lot to me as it was also the qualification race for the World Championships. I had heavy legs in the morning but after the first two laps I found my rhytm and used my ski speed in the final lap to take this race.

Winner in the Sprint and Pursuit in Ridnaun, Voldiya Galmace Paulin, missed three shots and finished fourth, 32.4 seconds behind the winner. Juni Arnekleiv of Norway and Amandine Mengin of France both had two misses - Arnekleiv finished in the fifth place, 34.1 seconds behind Chauveau and Mengin in the sixth place, 36.2 back.

Galmace Paulin stayed atop the Total Score standings with 877 points, 48 ahead of Bened.

Ski speed brings Dale-Skjevdal another win

Skiing 25.5 seconds faster than the rest of the field, the winner of yesterday’s Pursuit Dale-Skjevdal took the Mass Star 60 in 36:52.0 despite three penalties. He managed to hold off Germany’s Simon Kaiser, who crossed the line just 4.8 seconds behind with two misses. Another Norwegian Isak Frey secured third place, 11.3 seconds back, with three penalties.

THE WINNER’S WORDS - JOHANNES DALE-SKJEVDAL

Two mistakes in the first prone were not according to my plan. I rebuilt my race slowly and earned myself a good position before the last shooting. Ridnaun is a speedy course with many fast corners that fits my skiing style nicely. My chest is still not 100% and I will use the rest to get back to full health.

Frey narrowly edged out Germany’s Lucas Fratzscher, who finished fourth at +11.8 with two misses. Norway’s Johan-Olav Botn followed closely in fifth, just 12.5 seconds behind Dale-Skjevdal, also with two penalties. Sverre Dahlen Aspenes, missing three shots, completed the flower podium, 22,3 seconds behind the winner.

Frey has 1,284 atop the Total Score standings, 293 more than Sivert Guttorm Bakken in the second place.
