The IBU Regional Winter Events Organizers Meeting was held online on the 14th of October, bringing together over 45 participants from organizing committees and national federations. The event aimed to update participants on the key directions and updates in project implementation of Regional Events for the upcoming season 2024/2025.
During the meeting, key expectations for the upcoming season 2024/2025 were discussed, alongside updates on the project’s principles, athlete registration procedures, and results management processes. The meeting featured a mix of experienced and new organizing committee members and participants from respective national federations.
With the 2024/25 season IBU will start integration of Regional Events with IBU Membercenter. All participating athletes of youth and junior categories at Regional Events must be registered in the IBU Membercenter by IBU Member Federations. Organizing committees are responsible for result transmission to IBU Membercenter.
IBU is heading towards developing the IBU Event Series setup, aligned with the main objectives of IBU's Target 2030. These adjustments will focus on maintaining and enhancing the overall quality and attractiveness of biathlon events. As biathlon continues to expand, the goal is to provide more diverse and accessible competition opportunities that can accommodate the increasing number of athletes entering the sport.
