Para biathlon individuals competed in cold Vuokatti

Para biathlon individuals competed in cold weather as the thermometer showed -19 degrees in Vuokatti. Despite the chilly weather, the athletes reached great results on the track and in the shooting range.

The men's sitting class kicked off the morning in northern Finland. The 12,5km race in the cold temperature saw a Ukrainian double victory: Taras Rad took the win with only one miss, Pavlo Bal came in second with two misses, and Zixu Liu from China came in third with three misses. In women's sitting, individual Kendall Gretsch took her second win of the weekend with clean shooting. Second place went to Anja Wicker from Germany, who also shot clean, and third place went to Yuxin Zhai from China with two misses.

"Today was probably one of the coldest races I've ever done. I felt really good skiing, and the shooting went well so it was a good second race for the weekend. This was a great start to the season!" Gretsch revised after the competition.

In standing men, the entire top 3 managed to do a perfect job at the shooting range. Ukrainian Serhii Romaniuk brightened his sprint silver to gold, Mark Arwendz took second place, and Dmytro Sereda (UKR) completed the podium with third place. Standing women was a Canadian celebration as Natalie Wilkie won despite missing one and Brittany Hudak came in second with a clean shooting. Third place went to clean shooter Yujie Guo (CHN).

Good Ukrainian day also continued in the vision-impaired men as they took a triple victory led by Oleksandr Kazik despite missing two in the shooting range.
