Ilaria Scattolo and Dale-Skjevdal win in Obertilliach Sprint

Johannes Dale-Skjevdal of Norway, back to the IBU Cup from the super competitive Norwegian World Cup, and Ilaria Scattolo of Italy are the winners in the Sprint at the IBU Cup in Obertilliach. Dale-Skjevdal is fighting to win back his spot in the World Cup team, while still a junior woman, Scattolo delivered her best performance ever.

Dale-Skjevdal strikes back

Dale-Skjevdal claimed victory with a flawless shooting performance and a time of 23:36.6. Fellow Norwegian Johan-Olav Botn secured second place with one penalty, finishing just 6.9 seconds behind. The third spot was taken by their teammate, Sivert Guttorm Bakken, who also shot clean and finished 18.6 seconds behind the winner.

It feels great to strike the first race back in the IBU Cup. I was eager and nervous before the race, which is usually good for staying focused. The level in the IBU Cup is quite high. The last few weeks were not easy for me, but I stayed positive. I work hard to get back into the World Cup team.

Germany's Lucas Fratzscher, ranked fourth, also had a clean shooting performance, clocking in 24:01.4, 24.8 seconds off the lead. His compatriot, David Zobel, ranked fifth, incurred one penalty each in prone and standing but still delivered a competitive time of 24:13.9. In sixth place, Isak Frey from Norway overcame a single penalty to finish at 24:26.9.

Ilaria Scattolo stuns the competitions, collects her first-ever IBU Cup win

Ilaria Scattolo - still only 20 years old - delivered an exceptional performance to secure her first-ever IBU Cup win with flawless 10/10 and a time of 22:03.0. France's Gillone Guigonnat claimed the second position, finishing just 5.2 seconds behind despite one penalty. The Total Score leader Paula Botet, also from France, completed the podium in third place, 14.3 seconds back, with two penalties.

I am thrilled to have brought this win home. I never expected it. On top my family and my boyfriend stopped by - unexpectedly - and this made everything even more special.

Norway's R. Femsteinevik took fourth place, 24.9 seconds behind the winner, despite incurring two penalties. C. Bened of France, ranked fifth, demonstrated resilience, finishing 32.8 seconds off the leader with two penalties. Estonia's Regina Ermits secured the sixth position, overcoming one penalty to finish 36.0 seconds behind.
