From December 6th to 7th, 2023, in Hochfilzen (AUT), the IBU hosted this year’s Material Distribution. This initiative plays an essential role in supporting National Federations, especially those from B, C, D, and E development categories.
Thanks to the support of 27 Supplying Partners, the event was a great success. The distribution was based on the individual wish-lists from National Federations, their development categories, and the number of participating athletes. In total, the 37 distributed packages reached an impressive value of 900,000 EUR, with B-nations receiving 48%, C-nations 43%, and D and E-nations collectively 9%.
The material support included:
263 pairs of skis
192 pairs of poles
146 pairs of cross-country boots
615 pairs of bindings
300,000 rounds of ammunition
189 boxes of wax
1,850 pairs of gloves
653 pieces of clothing
and more essential items for biathlon athletes.
In addition to the support for the Material Distribution, Supplying Partners also contributed materials for common waxing needs, ensuring comprehensive support for all participating nations.
This event underlines the IBU's commitment to encouraging the growth and development of biathlon across the globe. By equipping emerging talents from various nations with high-quality materials, the IBU is paving the way for a more inclusive and competitive future in the sport.
