Franziska Preuss (GER) has been taking World Cup podiums since ten years ago but this season there was something extraordinary in her. From the start of the season we saw her fighting for the yellow bib as she kept shooting clean and keeping fast speed on the tracks. One weekend after another the German was on the podium and the highlight of her season came in Lenzerheide as she took her first solo gold medal in the women's sprint. Preuss won the total score in the last race and took home not only the Crystal globe but also sprint and mass start globes.
Lou Jeanmonnot (FRA) has been consistent figure on the World Cup podium since last season and this season was no different. She won the first individual race of the season in Kontiolahti alongside with seven other World Cup races! Jeanmonnot also took home two medals from the World Championships: gold in women's relay and bronze in individual. At the final race she lost the battle of the total score but win the individual and pursuit globes.
Elvira Oeberg (SWE) also started the season strong in Kontiolahti as she won the first mass start. This was only a warm-up for her as she also took home the mass start World Champion title from Lenzerheide alongside women's relay bronze. The Swede had seven individual podiums this season and a strong fourth place in the total score.
Julia Simon (FRA) was truly the queen of the World Championships in Lenzerheide. She won gold from women's individual as well as from all of the relays: mixed, single mixed and women's. This was not on pure luck as Simon also rose to the podium in six World Cup competitions.
