Yesterday, the Norwegian Biathlon Association announced that Tiril Eckhoff will not attend the next training camps and miss the first competitions of the season. At the end of the 2021/2022 season, Eckhoff came down with Covid-19. Since then, she has not been able to train normally with the team during both summer and autumn and she struggled with sleep problems during the summer.
"After contracting Covid-19, there has been a period that was tough for her in terms of sleep and excess. We have reassessed the situation with the coaches and the health team and determined that she is not ready to compete yet," says the national team manager Per Arne Botnan in the press release.
"At the moment, things are not optimal. We assess it continuously with a view of what happens in the future". Eckhoff won three medals at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing and finished the season with a double victory at home in Oslo-Holmenkollen.
The BWM IBU World Cup will start in three weeks in Kontiolahti. The Norwegian Season Opening will take place in one week in Lillehammer.
