The IBU Academy successfully concluded its Pilot Second Level Course, which brought together 20 dedicated coaches from 17 different National Federations. This innovative program marked a significant advancement in enhancing biathlon coaching skills globally.
The course spanned three intensive weeks, held in international biathlon venues: Oberhof (GER), Lillehammer (NOR), and Ruhpolding (GER). These locations provided the perfect environment for advanced coaching education and practical training.
The Pilot Second Level Course utilized a hybrid learning model. Coaches engaged in online Learning Suite tasks and completed two comprehensive exams. This blended approach ensured that participants received a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
In Ruhpolding, each coach was tasked with planning and executing a training session. These sessions were evaluated by experienced educators, provided valuable feedback, and helped coaches refine their techniques and strategies.
The program featured mentoring sessions with some of the most respected names in biathlon coaching, including Siegfried Mazet, Matthias Ahrens, Wolfgang Pichler, Jonne Kähkönen, and Roger Grubben. These mentors offered insights and guidance, sharing their extensive knowledge and experience with the participants.
The final week in Ruhpolding culminated in a certification ceremony, celebrating the achievements of the coaches and marking their successful completion of the Pilot Second Level Course.
This course represented the IBU's ongoing commitment to developing high-quality coaching and promoting the growth of biathlon worldwide. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these newly certified coaches will have on the sport.
