Double win for German men after almost seven years

Roman Rees and Justus Strelow brought a double win to Germany nearly seven years after Simon Schempp and Erik Lesser did the same in the Mass start in Oberhof on 08 January 2017. Both German victorious duos had exceptionally prominent company on the podium: JT Boe finished third in Oestersund yesterday and Martin Fourcade in Oberhof 2017.

Justine Braisaz-Bouchet returned to the World Cup competitions after she sat out last season due to maternal leave. She played a pivotal role in France’s Mixed Relay win, shooting 10/10 and clocking one of the fastest skiing times of the day.

Lisa Vittozzi lived through a nervous drama, watching Franziska Preuss challenging her leading time. An incredible record-breaking margin of 0.1 seconds gave Vittozzi her career-second win in the Individual.

A day of career-bests for many athletes

Roman Rees achieved his first-ever win in the BMW IBU World Cup in the Individual. For his teammate Justus Strelow, it was a career-first podium. For the sixth Endre Stroemsheim of Norway, it was the first Top 6 - Flower ceremony finish. Anna Maka of Poland scored her first Top 10 finish late in her career (31), and Marthe Krakstad Johannes in her first start to the season in the World Cup team. Marit Ishol Skogan of Norway made a World Cup debut with a Top 10 finish.
