Yellow bib Preuss forced to skip Hochfilzen

Due to a COVID-19 infection, World Cup Total Score leader Franziska Preuss is not able to start at the second BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Hochfilzen this week.

Preuss had shown herself in stellar form throughout the Opening World Cup week of the season, finishing second twice and rounding off her strong comeback with a 4th place.

The German captured the yellow bib after the sprint and was due to wear it in today's women sprint in Hochfilzen but came down with a COVID-19 infection right after Oestersund.

German team doctor Dr. med. Sebastian Torka said:

Franziska Preuss is dealing with the aftereffects of a COVID-19 infection which came up right after Oestesund, unfortunately. She isn't fit enough again to compete and she won't be at the start in Hochfilzen, also so the rest of her season is not put into jeopardy.

The women kick off the competitions in Hochfilzen with the Sprint on Friday afternoon.
