French anchor leg Quentin Fillon Maillet downed his five standing targets in quick succession to seal the men’s 4 X 7.5 km relay Gold medal for him and his teammates Antonin Guigonnat, Fabien Claude and Emilien Jacquelin this afternoon at the BMW IBU World Championships in very windy Oberhof. The Gold medal French quartet had one penalty and nine spare rounds in their 1:19:55.7 win. It was France’s first World Championship Relay Gold medal since topping Norway at Antholz in 2020. The favorite and up to this point undefeated-in-relays Norway finished with the Silver medal, after two penalties and fourteen spare rounds, 27.3 seconds back. Norway’s Silver medal ended anchor Johannes Thingnes Boe’s quest for seven Gold medals at this year’s Championships.
