The IBU announced the Pilot First Level Course in the new Coach Education Programme which will have 4 levels in total: basic, first, second, and third level. The First Level Course consists of 3 weeks of education and 200 hours in total. The first week will be held in Ruhpolding from 22-27 May 2022, the second and the third week will be held in October 2022 and the end of March 2023.
Well-known experts and coaches in the fields of biathlon and sports science will present their knowledge to a maximum of 20 coaches who will be nominated by the National Federations. Theoretical and practical lessons on the topics of skiing, shooting, physiology, equipment, motor skills training, coaches soft skills, rules & organization, psychology, nutrition, recovery & prevention, biathlon performance, and training science will be part of this pilot course. Main parts of the education will be held online via the IBU E-Learning Platform “Learning Suite”.
The target groups of this level are coaches with a basic biathlon coach education, athletes with national and international experience at the senior level (minimum of 3 years in the senior national team), or evidence of having worked as a biathlon coach for at least 2 years (clubs or regional or national level).
The application deadline for the Pilot First Level course is 31 March 2022.
