From 26 November until 3 December 2022, this year´s third IBU-IOC Camp took place in Martell, Italy. 19 different National Federations from the C- und D-level were taking part with their athletes and coaches.
The head coaches Armin Kasslatter (ITA) and Matthias Ahrens (CAN) planned and executed a 7-days camp in the valley of Martell, supported by the IBU-Academy coaches Carlos Lannes (ESP) and Velko Lozanoski (NMKD).
Special guest and athlete role model was Dominik Windisch from Italy, who won in total 6 medals at World Championships and Olympic Games in his career. Windisch supported the head coaches and held two interesting presentations to the athletes and coaches. Katharina Gatterer from the Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU) presented the latest information about safeguarding to all athletes.
In total, 19 coaches, 18 female and 19 male athletes from the NFs of Australia, Bosnia, Brasil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, Great Britain, Greenland, Hungary, Kirghizia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Moldova, North Macedonia, Netherlands, Romania, Serbia and Turkey were present.
Besides the well planned content of the camp, the highlights were 2 races at the end of the week - a short individual race on Friday and a single mixed relay on Saturday. "A special thanks goes to our coaches for the well-planned week, to Dominik Windisch for being an extraordinary role model, and to the OC of Martell for supporting us all the time", said IBU Development Director Dagmara Gerasimuk.
