IBU Athlete Webinar - Mental Well-being for Athletes

The IBU Academy recently hosted a powerful webinar on Mental Well-being for Athletes, shining a spotlight on the holistic needs of athletes at all levels. The webinar, which saw an overwhelming response with 266 registrants from 47 different National Federations, emphasized the critical importance of mental health for overall well-being and peak performance.

The webinar featured expert insights from Dr. Alan Currie, a Consultant Psychiatrist specializing in sports and exercise sciences, and Dr. Patrick Bernatzky, a seasoned sports psychologist. They discussed the unique mental health pressures athletes face and offered effective strategies for promoting mental well-being.

World Cup Biathlete Karoline Offigstad Knotten shared her personal journey, emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance and seeking support. Her openness served as an inspiration to athletes navigating similar challenges.

The webinar highlighted the importance of addressing mental well-being from a young age, fostering a supportive environment where athletes feel comfortable seeking help at any stage of their careers.
