Fever forces the biathlete to withdraw from his final races in Pokljuka.
This decision was made on Friday morning, and in consultation with the national team management, Thingnes Bø has decided to skip the remaining races in Pokljuka, Slovenia.
"It is true that Johannes has chosen to travel home. It is more important for him to recover so that he can take part in the events in Holmenkollen next weekend," explains national team manager Per Arne Botnan.
Johannes himself hopes to regain full health in time to perform well in what will be the final World Cup races of his career, taking place from March 21-23 in Holmenkollen.
"In hindsight, I shouldn’t have competed in the individual race yesterday. Racing while sick is not a good long-term strategy. I am sitting out in hopes of being 100% fit for my very last races in Holmenkollen in a week," says Johannes.
As a result, Johannes will not participate in the mass start or relay. Following yesterday’s race, he is currently in second place overall in the World Cup standings, 39 points behind his teammate Sturla Holm Laegreid.
