Sturla Holm Laegreid (NOR) started the season steadily with many podiums which ended up with him in a yellow bib after Antholz just before the World Championships. In the World Champs he managed to steal one individual medal as he came in second in the men's mass start. The end of the season however was when the Norwegian really showed what he's got and secured not only the total score win but also individual, pursuit and mass start globes.
Eric Perrot (FRA) showed already at the end of the season 2023-2024 that he is one to look out for as he became the first biathlete to win a World Cup race born in the 2000s. He started strong in Kontiolahti, won the first mass start of the season and was in yellow as the races continued in Hochfilzen. The World Championships were successful for the young Frenchman as he won the men's individual. During the season we saw Perrot in the podium total of four times!
Johannes Thingnes Boe (NOR) was the one to beat as for many seasons before. The Norwegian shocked the biathlon world in Ruhpolding as he announced that he will retire after the season. This did not slow him down, quite the opposite. He took home three gold medals from the World Championships: sprint, pursuit and men's relay. At the end of the season he took home the sprint globe alongside four World Cup wins.
Tommaso Giacomel (ITA) was in a good shape throughout the season. Giacomel proved that his aim is spot on in the mass start in Ruhpolding as he won his first World Cup race. From there on out it was smooth sailing for the Italian as he had four more World Cup podiums. World Championships were also unforgetable for him as he won silver in the men's individual.
